IMC Krems has the cure for the travel bug
New partnerships with international institutions
The Applied Chemistry degree programme has concluded new partnership agreements with Allegheny College in the USA and the Universidad de la República in Uruguay. Students on the Tourism and Leisure Management programme have the option of an exchange semester at Universidad Anáhuac Querétaro in Mexiko, while Informatics students can spend time at the Advanced College of Engineering and Management in Nepal.
For anyone who would prefer to stay a little closer to home, the Marketing degree programme has a partnership with the Università degli studi di Bergamo in Italy. Nursing programme students, meanwhile, can do an internship in Scandinavia at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences.
Erasmus+ options for semesters abroad and internships
Thanks to Erasmus+ funding, IMC Krems can provide students with financial support for exchange semesters and internships not only in Europe, but around the world. During the last academic year, the university funded 266 stays abroad (exchange semesters, internships and short-term mobility programmes) through the Erasmus+ programme. Most of these were in Europe, but Erasmus+ support also enabled students to spend time in third countries, including Mexico, Costa Rica, Australia, the USA, Canada, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates. The partnerships with the UAE are mainly agreements with companies in Dubai that regularly offer internship places for students.
Dual degrees – two degrees in parallel
Several IMC Krems degree programmes have particularly close relations with partner universities, which enables them to offer the option of completing a dual degree. Under dual degree agreements, the partners make reciprocal arrangements for crediting students for equivalent courses on what are otherwise totally independent degree programmes. This means students can study for two degrees at the same time.
Last year, outgoing and incoming dual degree student exchanges took place with the following universities: Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences and Turku University of Applied Sciences in Finland; Kedge Business School in France; Linköping University in Sweden; the University of the Sunshine Coast in Australia; and Technische Hochschule Deggendorf in Germany.
Internationalisation@home
IMC Krems is an attractive partner for highly respected universities because we can also support incoming students under joint Erasmus+ projects. This is in line with our commitment to promoting internationalisation at home here in Austria, and also enables us to boost cultural diversity on our degree programmes. In the previous academic year, incoming students from Argentina, Canada, Chile, Egypt, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Pakistan, Thailand, Ukraine and the USA, as well as students on our transnational degree programmes in Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam were able to spend a semester in Krems thanks to Erasmus+ funding.
