New Skills for Sustainable Tourism in Europe

Official Launch of WeNaTour Alliance and its Training Programme for Sustainable Tourism Professionals
 

Tourism in Europe is evolving rapidly, and with it, the need for new skills to tackle sustainability challenges and drive innovation in the field. The EU Funded WeNaTour project responds to these needs with highly specialised training pathways and networking opportunities for students and tourism professionals. As a project partner, IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems (IMC Krems) plays a key role in the implementation of this Europe-wide initiative.

New skills for sustainable tourism: The WeNaTour project offers free training and practical experience for a future-proof tourism industry.

The WeNaTour Alliance is a European network for sustainable tourism destination management, bringing together experts, innovators, and passionate professionals. By joining the Alliance, members gain access to a living library of exclusive resources, networking opportunities, and international and professional collaborations. Members will also benefit from access to best practices and case studies, insights into emerging markets, and the opportunity to showcase their own success stories, gaining visibility through the project.

WeNaTour’s comprehensive training offer combines flexible online learning, immersive field experience, and vocational training, equipping participants with the skills needed to excel in sustainable tourism destination management.

E-Learning Course: "Sustainable Tourism: Welfare, Nature, and Innovation in Tourism". Hosted by the University of Padua, this self-paced online course starts in April 2025 and is designed for students and professionals looking to gain expert insights into the latest trends in sustainable tourism. With high-quality content and flexible learning options, participants can study at their own pace. Pre-enrolment is now open!
Specialization Programme: Intensive On-the-Ground Training. In September 2025, 20 top students from the E-Learning Course will be selected to join an exclusive two-week Specialization School in Italy and Austria. This immersive field experience provides hands-on training in leading sustainable tourism destinations, supported by Erasmus+ mobility grants.
Local VET Courses. For individuals transitioning into tourism careers, WeNaTour will offer Technical Vocational Education and Training (VET) Courses in Ireland and Austria, delivered by local project partners.
