Sustainable AI innovation: free workshops for SMEs

Using sustainability reporting as an opportunity – with the power of data innovation

IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems offers a new four-day workshop series to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland, providing practical strategies for sustainable innovation. As part of the Digital Innovation Hub Ost (DIH-Ost) project, companies learn how to use sustainability reporting as a targeted innovation engine to strengthen their long-term competitiveness.

Shaping the future together: In interactive workshops, SMEs develop practical solutions at the intersection of sustainability, AI, and innovation – free of charge thanks to DIH-Ost.

A special focus is on the link between artificial intelligence (AI), circular economy and sustainable corporate governance. Through practical approaches and modern digital technologies, participants develop concrete solutions for their business models.

Workshop overview: Your path to sustainable innovation

In a partnership for a sustainable future, companies jointly learn how to make targeted use of sustainability strategies for innovation processes. Under the guidance of experts from science and industry, the companies take the following steps:

  • UNDERSTANDING – using sustainability as a competitive advantage (29 April)
  • GOALS – defining clear corporate goals using value chain analysis and design thinking (7 May)
  • INNOVATION – developing ideas for sustainable products, services and business processes (14 May)
  • PROTOTYPE – transforming the best idea into a concrete solution (virtual support as needed)
  • IMPLEMENTATION – testing and optimising the solution in practice (12 June)

The workshops combine university knowledge with practical implementation and can be flexibly integrated into the daily work routine. Four days of intensive learning, coupled with real-world application, make this programme unique.

    Exclusive benefits for participating SMEs

  • Free participation – thanks to funding from Austrian Research Promotion Agency (Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft, FFG), the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO) and the state of Lower Austria, participating companies incur no costs.
  • Flexible participation – companies can register for the entire series or individual modules.
  • Funding counselling – if innovative ideas arise during the programme, participants will receive support in identifying and applying for funding.
