Third Mission: Gender, Diversity and Nachhaltigkeit at IMC Krems

Our university actively engages in the Third Mission, expanding its traditional role in teaching and research to include socially relevant initiatives.

Central to this commitment are the themes of gender, diversity, and sustainability.

Gender, Diversity and sustainability

Through targeted projects and initiatives, we promote equal opportunities, cultural diversity, and sustainable development. We work to break down barriers and create an inclusive environment where all university community members can thrive.

Our efforts also contribute to shaping a fairer and more environmentally conscious society by developing innovative solutions and approaches that extend beyond the academic framework. Together, we strive for a future-oriented world where respect, equality, and ecological responsibility go hand in hand.

Responsibility Meets Commitment

One thing is clear: as a university, we want to use resources responsibly. Our goal is to keep our university's footprint as small as possible. To this end, numerous areas and key figures have been defined, which are regularly monitored and further optimised.

Fairness Meets Diversity

We also aim to act fairly towards our stakeholders. A clear commitment to diversity is therefore a matter of course for us.

We particularly care about our employees and students, i.e., all those who come into contact with our university on a daily basis. Numerous measures in the areas of diversity, family-friendliness, further education, and workplace health reflect our commitment in this field.

SDGs

Sustainable Development Goals

We align our actions with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), serving as a model for our stakeholders.

The “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, adopted in 2015, defines these goals. The aim is to achieve them at national, regional, and international levels by 2030.

These universally applicable goals take a holistic development approach, balancing economic, social, and ecological dimensions equally.

They also emphasise human rights, the rule of law, good governance, peace, and security, influencing our university’s teaching, research, and organisational practices.

Strategic goals

Strategic goals of IMC Krems

Our university is committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a guiding societal concept and consistently aligns its actions accordingly – whether in teaching, research, or university services.

A particular focus is on addressing specific SDGs, systematically measuring and analysing the impact of our activities on all SDGs.

We discuss these efforts in continuous dialogue with our stakeholders, always aiming to become a climate-neutral university. Additionally, gender, diversity, and sustainability are firmly embedded in our overall strategy.

Sustainability in focus: Research and teaching for a better future

We believe that the SDGs are essential for addressing global challenges. This is why we consistently integrate these principles into our academic activities. Our research projects are aligned with the respective SDGs, enabling targeted filtering and focused engagement.

By aligning our research with specific SDGs, students, researchers and stakeholders can easily identify relevant projects. This approach not only increases the transparency of our research but also promotes better collaboration and synergy.

Our university is, therefore, committed to future-oriented teaching and research, actively contributing to a more sustainable and just world.

Unsere Hochschule steht somit für zukunftsorientierte Lehre und Forschung. So schaffen wir nicht nur Wissen, sondern tragen aktiv zur Gestaltung einer nachhaltigeren und gerechteren Welt bei.
