Our University of Applied Sciences:
International. Innovative. IMC Krems.

Since it opened in 1994, our university has built a reputation as one of the most innovative and international higher education institutions in Austria.

We are particularly proud of the high levels of satisfaction among our students from Austria and abroad. The excellent recommendation rate of 95 % is a strong indicator of the quality at IMC Krems.

Education at eye level

IMC Krems currently offers 16 bachelor and 13 master degree programmes – about 50 % of programmes are taught in English. Our programmes are closely linked to the university’s core focuses of business, health and science & technology.

In addition to a very practical academic education, we offer our students the opportunity to develop leadership qualities and soft skills in a particularly international study environment and to work on projects in small groups.

Therefore, we do not see ourselves as an “education factory” but offer knowledge transfer at eye level.

University strategy

Univesity strategy

Our university strategy and our vision characterise our actions as a university.

International. And not just on paper

Our international environment defines day-to-day life at IMC Krems: we have 200+ partner universities, cooperate in many partnership programmes and have attracted students from 70+ different countries.

Intercultural exchange, internships abroad, participation in international research projects, and lectures from teaching staff and guest professors with extensive international experience are part and parcel of what we do.

More than 50 % of all degree programmes are taught in English – an especially attractive aspect for foreign students.

Our university's international focus

Innovative. Strong partnerships for outstanding career opportunities

We bundle our applied research into sustainable research priorities, develop innovative solutions for the benefit of the economy and society and thus contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Our researchers are visible in the national and international scientific community with their research results and are recognised and sought after as experts in their respective fields.

Establishing close ties between teaching, research and industry is a major priority, and is a crucial part of how we prepare students for the job market. When developing our degree programmes, we incorporate the latest trends and scientific findings and develop courses based on the needs of business and industry.

Our graduates’ job suitability is further promoted by compulsory internship semester or applied research semester.

This is how we make our students fit for the labour market: 99 % of all students find permanent employment within three months of graduation.

Applied research at our university

IMC Krems. A committed team as the key to success

300+ employees – and the number is growing every month: teaching staff, researchers, university services and apprentices – they all make a significant contribution to our success. At our university, the focus is always on people.

High-quality and sustainable further development is the result of respectful cooperation between our IMC team, students and our partners. Our cooperation is characterised by professional qualifications, a high sense of responsibility and outstanding commitment.

Our derived corporate values? Quite clearly: Learn. Create. Inspire.

Success story

From a vision to success

IMC Krems was founded as the International Management Center (IMC) in 1994 by Dr. Heinz Boyer, who is now the university’s Supervisory Board Chairman and majority owner. Eight years later, on 1 April 2002, we were awarded university of applied science status. Since then, the university has grown rapidly.

Since July 2024, we have proudly called ourselves a Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften. Our new German name finally aligns with the English term “University of Applied Sciences,” which we have been using since 2002.
